Streamlined production

The introduction of flexible machining systems and the grouping of these into phases, combined with an integrated management of orders and the warehouse, ensure a very low customer lead time, as proof of InterCar’s capacity to be prompt and efficient in satisfying its Customers’ requirements.

The Lean methodology, which the Company introduced several years ago and has applied rigorously to the production phase, has fully become part of its culture. This method was implemented to eliminate waste, minimise stocks and optimise efficiency and productivity and has also had very positive repercussions in the planning phase, by minimising the development timeframe, in accordance with the requested performances and thus the affordability of the entire project. This inter-functional and structured development approach is progressively leading the Company towards a cautious reduction and removal of all phases and activities without value from the production process, along with all aspects in the handling of an order that are not relevant for the client or the company’s business.

Coating department

The combination of technologically advanced production machinery and automatic transport systems in and out of machining centres, enables an optimisation of the entire process: from the processing of the raw material to coating, through to the packaging of finished products.

There are three types of coating: Alutherm® corrosion-resistance, UV and Zinc Dust with a low environmental impact, which cover the entire range of brake discs and are applied by a robot that is able to adapt to the different dimensions of the pieces, including those within the same line.

A fully automated department that was designed to satisfy the growing demand for coated discs that are ready for assembly, as a guarantee of an excellent aesthetic impact and protected disc surfaces without compromising braking performance.

Quality control

All of the production is subject to Statistical Process Control, via electronic equipment that examines the raw materials and samples of pieces during the various processing phases.

The systematic and extensive nature of these controls ensures that quality is produced, rather than obtained only by selection, thus improving the Company’s overall productivity.
